Equity 2030 is a Minnesota State initiative that seeks to close racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, and first-generation equity gaps at its colleges and universities by the year 2030. It seeks to do so by: (1) providing enhanced access to education, (2) establishing educational pathways to academic success, (3) increasing student engagement with institutions, (4) increasing financial resources for students and institutions, (5) increasing the technological infrastructure for evidence-based decision making and research, and (6) increasing workforce and talent diversity.

Equity by Design is the methodology that MN State colleges will employ to achieve Equity 2030 on a campus-by-campus basis. It seeks to understand and address equity gaps by implementing equity-minded approaches to institutional leadership, institutional change, and accountability in data and assessment practices, all while grounding these initiatives within awareness of each campus' localized context.

Institutions will provide a foundation for these changes by grounding them in the principles of (1) clarity in language, goals, and measures, (2) equity-mindedness, (3) adaptability of practices and polices to diverse student learners, (4) use of disaggregated data for continual assessment of goals, and (5) the focus on an institutional commitment to equity work as a foundational institutional principle.
